Comic Con Palm Springs
You’ll want to mark this one on your calendar because it’s going to be epic! Comic Con Palm Springs is happening August 25th to the 27th at the Palm Springs Convention Center in Palm Springs. With talent from the world of comic books, movies and more, this super fun event lets fans meet with entertainers, artists and creators, while also engaging in cosplay and participating in amazing events.
There are going to be some very special people at ComicCon this year, like Lynda Carter, who you may know as Wonder Woman, who will be in concert. Along with her will be Stan Lee, the one and only, the founder of Marvel Comics and a hero to many.
Other special guests include:
• Rob Liefeld – creator of Deadpool
• J. Scott Campbell – artist of Danger Girl and Spiderman
• Lindsay Wagner – The Bionic Woman
• Tom Kenny – the voice of SpongeBob
• Mike Quinn – actor and animator
• Mike Carlin – writer/editor of Marvel and DC Comics
• Sean Galloway – artist of Batman/Hellboy/World of Warcraft
• Jeff Lethcoe – creator of Bufon social art movement
• Christopher Straub – fashion design from Project Runway
• And so many more
There are so many special events going on at ComicCon, you could spend the entire weekend there and not do everything. Twisted Toons is a live script reading of Back to the Future, which is said to be the primary event at this year’s ComicCon. With talented voice artists doing the reading, you’ll love this experience and its hilarious and innovative touch.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Animated Batman and the Death of Superman, so a panel will be hosted to discuss the success of this animated series.
If you love zombies (and who doesn’t love zombies), the zombie maze room will freak you out while simultaneously using your wits and determination to get out of the room. Book your escape early, online to ensure you’ve got a spot. If maze rooms aren’t your style but you still want to get in on some zombie action, check out the zombie/saber walk that will take over the streets of Palm Springs. Basically this event is the undead meeting Star Wars, so what could be cooler than that? You may want to check out the rules before you participate because you don’t want to get kicked out for attacking bystanders or not staying in character. This stuff is serious. You can also eat like a zombie (brains not on the menu) at the zombie cafe. The undead may have a seat with you and hopefully don’t put you on the menu. After you eat or get eaten, head over to the late night zombie movie.
The Geek Fest Film Fest is the first of its kind, it will feature the best in a number of geeky film genres (think sci-fi, horror, superhero) in a number of forms like documentaries, shorts, fan films and so much more. The schedule is packed, so take your pick of geekiness.
If you love weapons, you won’t want to miss out on checking out Sean Rich’s collection of real and antique weapons and shipwreck artifacts. Many of these have been used in props in movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and other television shows.
Ever considered meeting your one and only at ComicCon? Well with the super sonic speed dating, your dream could come true.
Gamers will have felt like they’ve died and gone to heaven at this year’s event, as the game room will let you learn, play and win. Not only card games, but there will be free play of classic video games and a number of scheduled events. You can also head to the arcade room and feel like you are living in 1961. Your kids will wonder what this magical machine is and you can show them your pinball skills.
Imagine thousands of LEGO bricks, artfully put together in scenes that are out of this world. Also imagine a play are for kids where you can protect your feet from those dreaded and evil LEGO blocks and your kids can go wild with building. The LEGO room is just for that purpose.
Join up with the Starship Academy and save the galaxy. It’s that simple. With two flight simulators, up to six players can battle monsters and get their VR on.
It can’t all be fun and games at ComicCon. Join your fellow man and give up your blood, if the zombies haven’t already taken all of it. You can register in advance to donate and make this event epic because you gave back!
Friday night means the kickoff of ComicCon and it starts with a concert in the Spa Resort Casino’s Cascade Lounge with Tom Kenny and the Hi-Seas. You also won’t want to miss the Symphony Pop Orchestra playing along with clips of classic movies. It is definitely a not-to-be missed experience.
For both adults and kids, dress up in your best and win $1000. This isn’t an everyday ordinary costume contest either, so be imaginative!
Your best bet is a 3-day in-advance VIP membership. For $125, you’ll get admission, early VIP entrance, VIP line access, a CCPS collectible print, a 10% discount on merch, a collectible program and entrance into Saturday night’s VIP party.
Add to that VIP seating at the Lynda Carter concert, plus a few other goodies and your ticket will cost $175.
If all you want is to check out the festivities all weekend, you can do that as well, with a $60 in-advance ticket or $70 at the door. Day memberships are also available with Friday and Sunday costing $35 and Saturday at $47, in advance. Tickets at the door are $10 more.
