Not only does La Quinta have beautiful scenery, restaurants, golf and so much more, we’ve got a number of great marathons in the Coachella Valley.
In February during President’s Day weekend for 2017, but typically at the beginning of the year, this ½ marathon, 5K and festival takes more than 1,600 runners through the Mojave desert. Starting at Civic Centre Park, the race takes runners through neighbourhoods with views of celebrity homes and finishes in the amphitheatre. If the full half isn’t for you, there is a 5K race, along with a Sweethearts Relay and a 1K kid’s run.
Celebrating the Day of the Dead in November, this race is run in honor of a passed loved one. Located in Coachella, you’ll run 5K, but then there are so many other things to do. With artwork on display, live music, candle burning, painted faces and more, this race is very entertaining.
Now in its sixth year, this recreational road bicycle event in the Coachella Valley is an amazing experience. With scenic views, low traffic roads and an overall safe ride, this race has both a full and short course.
Swim, bike and run a number of distances for this amazing triathlon race. Kids and adults alike can take part in this triathlon, which features as little as a 100m swim, 3 mile bike and 1 mile run or you can go to the max and swim 2.4 miles, 112 miles biking and 26.2 mile run. The choice is yours with this December race.
In its 3rd year, the Living Desert Cheetah Run gives you an opportunity to run right through the Living Desert Zoo and gardens during this 5K race. You’ll see animals like big horn sheep, zebras, camels and cheetahs as you and the family make your way through. Kids of all ages can take part in this fun race.
These are just some of the many great races taking place in the Palm Desert valley. There are so many more to choose from in all months of the year, from short runs to long bikes and everything in between.
