Being named on top 10 lists and receiving certificates of excellence doesn’t always mean a restaurant is going to tickle your fancy, but the La Quinta Cliffhouse Grill and Bar does just that for everyone who visits it. Located at Historic Point Happy in La Quinta, right off of Highway 111, La Quinta Cliffhouse Grill & Bar has spectacular scenery with its setting on a rock outcropping above the desert floor and surrounded by mountains in a rustic building. With views right across the valley, there truly is not a bad seat in the house at this bar and grill.
If the scenery doesn’t bring you in, maybe the menu will. Billed as upscale casual dining, you’ll get classic American fare made with fresh ingredients and thoughtfully prepared and served. The dinner menu includes some great favorites like Steak Tartare, Baked Oysters, Roasted Acorn Squash Soup and a Blue Cheese Wedge Salad. But, you’ll be surprised by some of the more unique menu items like Crispy Quail Lollipops (served with a jicama slaw and spicy port wine glaze), vegetable coconut curry and a blackened catfish.
The kids menu isn’t like any typical kids menu with grilled chicken breast, BBQ ribs and sautéed shrimp being served. Of course, there are also kid favorites like cheeseburgers and mac n’ cheese.
Happy hour is the time to visit the La Quinta Cliffhouse Bar and Lounge with different specials through the week. You also won’t want to miss their two-course sunset dinners, which happen from 5-6pm. For less than $20 you’ll get a starter and a main course.
About those awards I spoke about earlier. Gayot voted La Quinta Cliffhouse one of the:
• top 10 romantic restaurants in the Palm Springs area
• top 10 Palm Springs best restaurants
• 2016 best Palm Springs romantic restaurants
• 2016 best Palm Springs Valentine’s Day restaurants
In other words, this is definitely the spot to bring a date you want to impress.
This restaurant has also won a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor and is currently rated #2 on the list of the almost 100 restaurants in all of La Quinta. The service is frequently mentioned as being excellent and the food as being well presented and tasty. Most reviewers rated this restaurant as excellent. Other rating sites like OpenTable, Yelp or AllMenus give it a rating of four or more.
