Palmilla is a desert oasis of meandering lakes and shimmering fountains, complementing the natural beauty of the desert and surrounding mountains.
When you arrive at Palmilla, you enter through a distinctive portal with water features on either side to “cleanse away” the busy sounds of the street. Designed by architects Downing, Thorpe and James, Palmilla was created to have a different feel than other neighborhoods in the area.
Palmilla provides an interesting and diverse mix of homeowners—over 50 percent are full-time residents, with the balance made up of weekenders and seasonal residents. The community includes a wide array of owners, from professional athletes and award-winning Hollywood producers, to prominent local business owners.
Artwork also sets Palmilla apart from other communities. There is an “art garden” at the entrance, as well as the handcrafted gates – all created by famed Southwest sculptor, Joe Tyler, who took his inspiration from the Sonoran desert.
RJT Homes created the ultimate in preferred desert living when they built Palmilla. Palmilla’s boldly designed showcase homes, set among shimmering lakes, original metal sculptures and lush desert landscaping, has garnered national acclaim. The community won the prestigious “Best in American Living” Award by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Professional Builder magazine, and was designated “Best Single- Family Detached Community in the U.S.” by Builder’s Choice. Most recently, Palmilla took the 2005 Honor Award for Design presented by the American Society of Landscape Architects.
